What is in this leaflet:

2.   What you need to know before you take MAGVIT B6
3.   How to take MAGVIT B6
4.   Possible side effects
5.   How to store MAGVIT B6
6.   Contents of the pack and other information

1. What MAGVIT B6 is and what it is used for

MAGVIT B6 contains magnesium lactate dihydrate and vitamin B6 as pyridoxine hydrochloride. Magnesium regulates intracellular ion transport - it decreases nerve and muscle excitability. Magnesium and calcium ions mutually enhance their individual characteristic effects in the bone formation process.
As magnesium participates in many enzymatic reactions, the possibility of magnesium deficiency must be taken into account if the following symptoms occur: nervousness, irritability, exhaustion, fatigue, mild sleep disorders, spastic stomach pain, heart palpitations, muscle cramps, sensitivity disorders.
Vitamin B6 promotes gastrointestinal absorption of magnesium into blood, its passage from cell membranes into the intracellular space and decreases urinary excretion of magnesium - all this helps to preserve the required levels of intracellular magnesium. Vitamin B6 content in one MAGVIT B6 tablet is sufficient to prevent vitamin B6 deficiency.

The use of MAGVIT B6 is recommended for preventing and treating magnesium and vitamin B6 deficiency.

A doctor usually recommends the patient to take magnesium supplements, as early diagnosis of magnesium deficiency is possible only based on clinical symptoms.
You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 3 days.

2. What you need to know before you take MAGVIT B6 Do not take MAGVIT B6:

- if you are allergic to magnesium lactate dihydrate, pyridoxine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
-   if you have severe renal failure;
-   if you have excessive levels of magnesium in the blood, vitamin B6 toxicity;
-   if you have a heart conduction disorder;
-   if you have myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness);
-   if you have Parkinson’s disease/syndrome, which is treated with L-dopa without the concomitant administration of a levodopa decarboxylase inhibitor;
-   if you have abnormally low blood pressure;
-   if you have a malabsorption syndrome, diarrhoea.

Warnings and precautions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking MAGVIT B6.

Other medicines and MAGVIT B6

If oral tetracyclines are administered along with MAGVIT B6, it is recommended to leave 3 hours between taking these medicines in order to avoid absorption disorders of tetracyclines from the gastrointestinal tract. Patients with a heart or kidney disease should talk to a doctor before taking this medicine.
Magnesium decreases the absorption of theophylline, tetracyclines, iron supplements, fluorides and warfarin-type oral anticoagulants.
Phosphates, large doses of calcium, excessive amounts of lipids and phytates decrease the absorption of magnesium from the gastrointestinal tract. Diuretics, cisplatin, cyclosporine and mineralocorticoids increase the urinary excretion of magnesium. Aminoglycoside antibiotics, musculoskeletal relaxants and colistin may cause muscle function loss if administered along with magnesium preparations. Alkalinisation of urine decreases urinary excretion of quinidine, which may increase the risk of quinidine overdose. Vitamin B6 may decrease phenytoin levels in serum. The use of cycloserine, hydralazine, ioniazid, penicillamine and oral contraceptives may increase the need for vitamin B6.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.

MAGVIT B6 with food and drink

MAGVIT B6 may not be taken on an empty stomach, as it may cause diarrhoea.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Magnesium may be used during pregnancy, if necessary.
As magnesium is excreted into breast milk, the use of magnesium should be avoided during breastfeeding.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

MAGVIT B6 does not have or has a negligible effect on the ability to drive and use machines.
