1. What Velios is and what it is used for
The drug Velios contains micronized diosmin. Velios increases the venous vascular tension and protects the vessels. Velios is indicated: - for the treatment of symptoms related to chronic venous circulation insufficiency in adults: • leg heaviness; • leg pain; • nocturnal leg cramps. - symptomatic treatment, in case of worsening of the ailments associated with hemorrhoids in adults. You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse.
2. What you need to know before you take Velios Do not take Velios:
- if you are allergic to diosmin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Velios In case of worsening the symptoms of haemorrhoids it should be remembered that Velios treatment is only symptomatic and should be short-term. If the symptoms do not disappear, proctological examination should be performed and doctor will decide about appropriate treatment. Taking this medicine in symptomatic treatment, in case of worsening of the symptoms with haemorrhoids, does not preclude concomitant use of medicine administrated rectally. In case of venous circulation disorders in the lower limbs, the therapeutic effect of Velios may be increased by proper lifestyle: - avoidance of sun exposure, - avoidance of standing position for a long time, - maintaining appropriate weight, - wearing special stockings. If your illness gets worse, which can be seen as inflammation of the skin, inflammation of the veins, hardening of the tissue under the skin, severe pain, skin ulcers or at the occurrence of untypical symptoms, for example instantaneous swelling of one or both legs, you should consult your doctor immediately. This medicinal product does not work when the swelling in the lower part of your legs is caused by heart, kidney or liver diseases.
Other medicines and Velios
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. Diosmin may increase concentration in blood and decrease elimination of metronidazole (antibacterial and antiprotozal medicine) and diclofenac (analgesic and anti-inflammatory medicine).
Velios with food and drink
Velios should be taken with food.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Pregnancy Before taking Velios during pregnancy or if the patient becomes pregnant while taking this medicine, ask your doctor. Breast-feeding No information is available on whether diosmin passes to breast milk. Breast-feeding is not recommended during administration of Velios
Driving and using machines
Velios does not have affect or have insignificant influence on ability to drive and use machines.
Velios contains lactose
If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine. Film-coating contains the azo-dye Sunset Yellow (E110). May cause allergic reactions.
3. How to take Velios
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Treatment of chronic venous insufficiency symptoms The recommended dose is one tablet daily with food. You must take this medicine for at least a few weeks, before improvement can be expected. If the symptoms of your disease get worse or do not improve after five weeks of treatment, you should consult your doctor. Treatment of acute haemorrhoidal disease symptoms The recommended dose is 3 tablets a day for the first 4 days, then 2 tablets daily for the next 3 days. If the symptoms of your disease get worse or do not improve in seven days, you should consult your doctor. Do not take more than recommended dose.
If you take more Velios than you should
No overdose cases have been reported. In case of overdose, please contact your doctor.
If you forget to take Velios
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet.
If you stop taking Velios
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Possible side effects listed below are grouped by frequency of occurrence in accordance with the following convention: very common (affects more than 1 user in 10) common (affects 1 to 10 users in 100) uncommon (affects 1 to 10 users in 1,000) rare (affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000) very rare (affects less than 1 user in 10,000) Rare side effects include: diarrhoea, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, malaise, rash, pruritus, urticaria. In case of mild side effects on stomach and intestines and neurovegetative disorders (e.g. increased anxiety, increased heart rate, increased sweating, fearfulness) withdrawal of this medicine is not required.

5. How to store Velios
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Store below 25°C. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the label and carton after: EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.
6. Contents of the pack and other information What Velios contains
- The active substance is diosmin. Each film-coated tablet contains 1000 mg micronised diosmin. - The other ingredients are: tablet core: cellulose microcrystalline, lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, silica colloidal anhydrous, magnesium stearate; film-coating: polyvinyl alcohol, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 3350, talc, quinoline yellow lake (E104), indigotine lake (E 132), sunset yellow lake (E 110), black iron oxide (E 172).
What Velios looks like and contents of the pack
Velios are supplied as film-coated tablets. Film-coated tablets are green, oblong, biconvex with a smooth surface,without stains or damaged parts. Pack sizes: 30 or 60 film-coated tablets. Film-coated tablets are packed into blisters of PVC/Aluminium foil, in cardboard box.
