Kestine contains the active substance ebastine. It acts on peripheral histamine Hj-receptors and is used as an antihistamine to relieve allergy symptoms. Recommended daily doses do not cause sleepiness and do not induce antimuscarinic side effects (dry mouth, tachycardia, dilation of the pupils).
Kestine tablets are used for symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis (runny nose) and urticaria (nettle rash).

2. What you need to know before you use Kestine 10 mg Do not use Kestine 10 mg:

•   if you are allergic to ebastine or any other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Warnings and precautions

•   Talk to your doctor before taking Kestine 10 mg tablets if you have electrocardiogram (ECG) QT interval prolongation, hypokalemia (low blood potassium level), or if you concurrently use medicines that prolong the QT interval, or enzyme CYP3A4 inhibitors.

•   Talk to your doctor before taking Kestine 10 mg tablets if you have severe liver impairment.

Other medicines and Kestine 10 mg

Be careful while taking Kestine 10 mg tablets if you concurrently use ketoconazole or erythromycin, which cause ECG QT interval prolongation.
Concurrent use of Kestine 10 mg or rifampicin (active substance in tuberculosis treatment) may lead to lowered levels of blood ebastine and a decrease in antihistamine effect.
No interactions have been observed when taking Kestine 10 mg tablets together with theophylline, warfarin, cimetidine, diasepam or alcohol.

Kestine 10 mg with food and drink

Kestine 10 mg tablets can be taken irrespective of meals.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.
It is not recommended to use Kestine 10 mg during pregnancy and breast-feeding, due to lack of relevant safety data on ebastine use during this period.
