1. What Viprosal B ointment is and what it is used for
Viprosal B ointment is used externally to relieve joint and muscle pain.
2. What you need to know before you use Viprosal B ointment Do not use Viprosal B ointment
- if you are allergic to Venenum Viperae berus, camphor, turpentine oil, salicylic acid or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6). - on wounds or areas with skin conditions; - if you have cardiac and cerebral blood circulation problems; - if you are prone to blood vessel spasms; - if you have severe liver and kidney function disorders.
Warnings and precautions
Do not apply Viprosal B ointment on damaged skin. To avoid severe irritation, make sure that the ointment does not get into your eyes or on mucous membranes.
Children and adolescents
It is not recommended to use the medicine in children or adolescents due to insufficient information on the use in this age group.
Other medicines and Viprosal B ointment
Interactions with other medicines has not been studied. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using or have recently used or might use any other medicines.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Due to the lack of information on safety, do not use Viprosal B ointment during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Driving and using machines
Viprosal B has no effect on the ability to drive or use machinery. Viprosal B contains cetostearyl alcohol which may cause local skin reactions (incl. contact dermatitis).
3. How to use Viprosal B ointment
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. For external use. Adults Depending on the size of the affected area, apply 5-10 g (1-2 teaspoons) of ointment and massage it into the skin. Use 1-2 times a day, depending on the intensity of pain, until the disappearance of pain syndrome. Length of treatment depends on the nature and severity of the condition. If you feel that the effect of Viprosal B ointment is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
If you use more Viprosal B ointment than you should
No cases of overdose have been reported. The ointment causes strong irritation when applied to mucous membranes. Accidental ingestion of Viprosal B ointment may cause gastrointestinal symptoms, such as vomiting and diarrhoea. Accidental swallowing of large quantities may result in acute poisoning symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, feeling hot/flushing, seizures, inhibition of breathing and coma. If you or someone else accidentally swallowed the ointment, it is advisable to contact a doctor. Take the package of the medicine with you to the doctor. Do not attempt to induce vomiting. If you forget to apply Viprosal B ointment, use it as soon as possible, and then continue treatment as usual. If it is time for the next application, use the prescribed amount of the cream, and then continue treatment as usual. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
If you stop using Viprosal B ointment
Talk to your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or worsen. If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The ointment may cause itching, swelling or urticaria if your skin is hypersensitive to any of the ingredients. In this case, it is recommended to stop the treatment and wash off the ointment from the skin. The symptoms subside quickly after treatment is discontinued. To prevent adverse reactions, it is advisable to apply a small quantity of the ointment first to detect potential sensitivity of the skin.

5. How to store Viprosal B ointment
Do not store above 25 °C. Do not store in the refrigerator and do not freeze. Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the package. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.
6. Contents of the pack and other information What Viprosal B ointment contains
- The active substances are Venenum Viperae berus, camphor, turpentine oil, salicylic acid. - 1 g of ointment contains 0.05 IU of viper venom, 30 mg of camphor, 30 mg of turpentine oil, and 10 mg of salicylic acid. - The other ingredients are: vaseline, cetostearyl alcohol, solid paraffin, sodium cetostearyl sulphate, glucerol, sodium chloride, and purified water.
What Viprosal B ointment looks like and contents of the pack
White or slightly yellowish ointment with a smell of camphor and turpentine oil. 30 g, 50 g or 75 g of ointment in aluminium tube; aluminium tube in a carton box. Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
