1. What Broncophen Thymia is and what it is used for
Broncophen Thymia is a traditional herbal product which indication is based on long-term experience. Broncophen is an expectorant for cough with concomitant upper airway viral infection.
2. What you need to know before you use Broncophen Thymia Do not use Broncophen Thymia
- if you are allergic to the active ingredient common thyme or any plants from the Lamiaceae family or any other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions Children
Do not give the medicine to children under 4 years of age.
Other medicines and Broncophen Thymia
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using, have recently used or might use any other medicines, including medicines bought without prescription. No known interaction with other medicines
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Driving and using machines
There are no studies evaluating the effects on the ability to drive and use machines. Broncophen Thymia does not contain ingredients that could cause drowsiness.
Broncophen Thymia contains fructose and sorbitol
If you have been told by your doctor that you have intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine. One pastille equals approximately 1 bread unit. Diabetic patients should take this into consideration.
3. How to take Broncophen Thymia
Always use Broncophen Thymia exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Posology
If not instructed otherwise by the doctor, the recommended dose is: Children over 12 years, adolescents, adults and elderly patients: 1.. .2 pastilles every 3-4 hours (4 to 6 times daily) Children aged 4.12 years 1 pastille every 3-4 hours (4 to 6 times daily) Oral (for suction; let slowly melt in the mouth) You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 7 days.
If you take more Broncophen Thymia you should
Sorbitol might have a slight laxative effect in amounts of more than 20 g daily, which equals to more than 40 pastilles.
If you forget to use Broncophen Thymia
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Broncophen Thymia can have side effects, although not everybody gets them. Sporadic cases of hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. itch, rash) or gastrointestinal disorders (e.g. nausea, vomiting) have been reported.

5. How to store Broncophen Thymia
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use Broncophen Thymia after the expiry date which is stated on the label and carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Store below 25 °C. Store in the blisters in outer package, in order to protect from light. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.
6. Contents of the pack and other information What Broncophen Thymia contains:
- The active substance is common thyme. 1 pastille contains common thyme dry extract 59.5 mg (DER = 7...13:1; at least 0.4% of phenols calculated a thymol). - The other ingredients are: acacia gum (E414), fructose, sorbitol (E420), maltodextrin, citric acid (E330), saccharin sodium (E954), flavouring agents, liquid paraffin, white beeswax (E901), purified water.
